I looked at the Flickr web site and I was surprised at how many people actually up load picture for all to see and use.
Now for the fear part. Pictures hide viruses and trojan horses, which makes me fearful of doing anything but looking.

Ron,
Please keep your concerns in check. Flickr prevents viruses/trojan horses from being hidden in Flickr images; however, it cannot control links users include in comments or emails posted through its site. Flickr addresses some of your concerns here at its Help/FAQ page: http://www.flickr.com/help/website/#236
We should all exercise caution - but we can place trust in some people and sites. Consider that if Flickr were not vigilant about this, its reputation would be on the line. Flickr has a Report Abuse online form for anyone to let them know if something looks fishy.
Yes, I agree Christine. Flickr does a great job of protecting users. But for the most part, most people are not downloading images, they are linking to them. If I find a photo I like on Flickr, I copy the URL and post it on my blog that way. I have never downloaded an image. I never really considered the danger.
I upload most of my photos to Flickr, but I keep the personal ones (partying in Rocky Pointe) private, and only my friends can see with a password if I choose to give it. It's a great backup storage tool.
Fear not, jump in.
Thanks to both of you. I find the idea of using the url the most benificial.
Ron
